FAQs
-
What is your makeup policy? We know that things come up! If your child needs to miss a swim lesson, we’re happy to offer make-up classes. All we ask is that you let Miss Tabi know via text message by 8:30 the morning of the scheduled lesson so we can plan accordingly.
-
What if my child cries or is fearful of swim lessons? It’s perfectly natural for some children to feel nervous or even cry during their first few swim lessons. Getting comfortable in a new environment and forming a bond with their instructor takes time. Every child adjusts at their own pace, but with gentle encouragement and consistent practice, their confidence in the water will grow.
-
What age should my child start lessons? We’re happy to welcome little ones as early as 3 months old! That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer for when to start—every family and child is different. Whether your baby is just a few months old or your child is older, it’s never too early or too late to begin the journey of learning to swim. We’re here whenever you’re ready!
-
Is 15 minutes long enough for a lesson?Yes! These shorter sessions are designed to match a young child's attention span while keeping them engaged and building essential water skills. Once your child feels more comfortable, they’re welcome to transition into our 30-minute small group classes.
-
How can I encourage swim lessons to my hesitant child?Parents can speak positively about swim lessons and their instructor before and after class, establish a consistent routine on lesson days, bring a comfort item (favorite towel or toy), exhibit calm reassurance, and celebrate their small progress to boost their confidence.
-
What can I expect the first day? It's completely normal for children to feel fearful and uncertain on their first day. Many will cry when they're handed over to Miss Tabi, but be rest assured, she will take a gentle, playful approach to help them feel safe and begin building trust. The amount of instruction we do on that first day depends entirely on each child's comfort level. With consistency and care, each lesson becomes a little easier.
-
Do you offer seasonal or year-round lessons? We understand that schedules can get busy, but we truly encourage families to keep swim lessons going year-round—even if it’s just once a week. Consistent practice helps your child retain their skills, build confidence in the water, and continue progressing. When lessons are limited to just the summer months, it’s common for kids to lose momentum and even regress in what they’ve already learned.
